Media Buyer Full-Time

You’ll play a key role in activating media strategy and plans and make insightful recommendations consistent with the approved strategy. You’ll manage daily tasks for stewarding approved plans and train Assistants in media fundamentals, policies/procedures and systems.

Prior to airdate, the Media Buyer is responsible for ensuring that trafficking, inputting, contract checking and scheduling are being completed in a timely manner for all their clients.

You will be accountable for:

Partnering with the Trading Manager in development of communication plan options and recommendations:

Understand basic & advanced methodology and data behind 3rd party research tools and run the needed reports to assist in media recommendation development.

Ensuring proper execution of video/broadcast communication plans:

  • Maintain accurate budget control and flow of media activity
  • Implement and monitor video/broadcast buys/schedules, maintain campaign results
  • Compile monthly media reconciliation against actuals for billing
  • Responsible for MediaOcean management system
  • Maintain accuracy of planning costs / rates
  • Buyers must be well informed of video/broadcast landscape and offerings available in the marketplace, ownership trends and research.

Acting with high integrity to maintain strong, collaborative, productive working relationships across:

  • Communication Planning teams and Activation teams, to ensure media strategies are delivered and brand goals/client needs are met
  • Clients, agency partners, sales representatives & media partners
  • Providing timely and accurate delivery of all work
  • Training and developing Assistants(s), as well as reviewing their work for accuracy
  • Attending and participating in client meetings as needed
  • Demonstrating a desire to create improvement and better outcomes through innovation / approaching things in new ways

Responsible for campaign management including:

  • Prepares and presents pre/post buys, tracking audiences, checking contracts
  • Ensuring buys are input and discrepancies are cleared in a timely manner
  • Ensuring tracking reports for campaign and financial performance are prepared accurately and on time
  • Assists other groups with buying overload

Our Requirements

  • At 2 years of related media buying experience
  • Completed Bachelor’s degree or Diploma; concentration in advertising, marketing, business administration, and/or communications preferred
  • Possess and demonstrate strong understanding of media fundamentals, including media math, target audience development, and communication goals (reach/frequency)
  • Demonstrate proficiency with systems/tools
  • Demonstrates accountability and ownership by ensuring accuracy, efficiency in their quality of work
  • Strong quantitative skills, including analytical abilities and math proficiency
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking and effective problem solving skills
  • Ability to work within a team, handle multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines
  • Strongly business-minded and extremely detail-oriented, with clear and proven organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate ambition by keeping abreast of industry trends through trade news, industry workshops / seminars and tracking current events
  • Foster inspiration through appropriate participation in team, agency, and industry initiatives
  • Demonstrate genuine curiosity and interest in our clients & their business
  • Digitally savvy, with specific proficiency at MS Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint
