Reporting to the Canadian Regional Managing Director with a dotted line to the Senior Vice President, Chief Communications Officer, this position plays a critical strategic communications role in streamlining the messages of the company's within the Region.



Overall objectives of this role are to:
  • Manage communications activities for the Region. Contribute to the creative strategies for communication. Responsible for internal and external communications, media relations, advertising, community affairs, event management, regional VO activities.

  • Reinforce and maintain the company brand within the Region. Ensure that Regional activities are consistent and within the bounds of the Company’s designated style – this could range from logo usage, and building signage to employee newsletters or video projects.

  • Reinforce, help communicate or rollout key enterprise programs, within the Region, such as: Safety 2.0, Transformation Communication, Ethics and Integrity, Recruiting, Benefits, Corporate Policies and Procedures, employee and project team recognition.

  • Support corporate communication initiatives: provide Regional -specific content for, thought leadership white papers, Press Releases, CH2M.com,  serve as subject matter expert for executive speaking or media opportunities, company video, corporate presentations, and other programs.  Uphold editorial standards of the company.

    Specific duties include:

  • Work with the Regional Managing Director, Regional Sales Director and Regional Business Group Managers to develop and implement communication strategies and budgets.

  • Write and edit Regional-specific communications for internal purposes including Regional Managing Director email communications, and VO articles. Compose and distribute monthly or quarterly internal communications on behalf of the Regional Managing Director’s senior leadership, as well as announcements of changes in Business/Regional policy or organizational changes.

  • Write and edit Business/Regional-specific communications for external purposes including: press releases, Website content, presentations, awards, submittals for rankings, white papers, and other as determined.

  • Oversee development and management of the Regional VO site to improve communication including monthly feature stories and updates.

  • Collaborate with CS&S and Regional Sales Director to ensure press release pipeline is maintained.

  • Coordinate media opportunities in accordance to the communication policy.

  • Assist the Business/Region in identifying completed projects to obtain photography to showcase.

  • Support of HR’s recruiting efforts for the local events and advertising.

  • Present marketing and communications best practices to local sales and operational staff.

  • Other projects as needed by Business/Region. Activities could include project award submittals, ranking surveys, yearly Business/Regional project calendar, or coordination of yearly internal leadership meetings.

The minimum qualifications for this position are:
Job Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of experience.

  • Excellent writer with strong experience in developing and executing high-profile communications initiatives. Must manage multiple, complex writing-revisions cycles to achieve optimal result.

  • Excellent oral communications skills to interact with employees at all levels of the organization, especially senior leadership.

  • Excellent copywriting and editorial skills with expert knowledge of Associated Press style.

  • Ability to see the Corporate-level perspective, the Business/Regional Group goals & objectives, and the fine details needed to implement complex communications.

  • Excellent project manager, able to manage multiple, simultaneous deadlines.

  • Able to collaborate with diverse employees from various cultures located around the world.

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, Public Relations, Integrated Marketing, Journalism, or related field.

  • Knowledge of the engineering, architecture, or construction industry is a plus.
