Red Deer College is looking for an individual with a passion for creativity to join the Marketing and Communications team! The Marketing Communications Consultant - Video will communicate the College's brand through high caliber visual media, using videography and photography, and produce content for both internal and external communication and marketing.  The Marketing Communications Consultant - Video will produce and edit content for the web and media distribution that conveys the RDC experience. All aspects of photo and video projects from concept to completion will be managed by this position. The successful incumbent will collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to create persuasive content targeted toward current and prospective students, while focusing on recruitment, retention & branding.

A significant component of this role includes Project Management, including strategic project planning and tactical project execution, as well as project budget stewardship. This role performs all components of video production, collaborates with other Department staff to contribute to Creative Writing components, and supports and contributes to the maintenance and implementation of the RDC brand. The successful incumbent will also provide expertise in utilizing best practices to develop tools and methods to measure the success and Return on Investment of marketing and communications initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of post-secondary training, completion of a community college certificate including trades apprenticeships or equivalent in Communications, Photography, Videography and/or Marketing, Broadcast/Media, Visual Arts or Design; major coursework in digital media communications, cinematography, video production
  • 2-3 years related experience
  • Ability to translate business needs, creating and implementing effective marketing and communications strategy into effective tactical creative solutions that meet business needs
  • Strong project management skills gained from experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Flexibility; ability to multi-task, adapt to changing priorities and prioritize projects to meet aggressive deadlines
  • Ability to write and implement Marketing and Creative briefs
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated graphic design sensibility
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to anticipate requesting department needs
  • Relationship building skills - ability to deal professionally and productively with faculty, staff, students, external vendors  and co-workers
  • Motivated and organized. Have a positive attitude and outgoing personality
  • Creative eye and attention to detail; the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Strong interview skills (to be able to craft questions asked of interviewees during pre-interview process and during taping)
  • Strong working knowledge in: Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong working knowledge of various video equipment, including but not limited to: professional Camcorder, professional Lighting, wireless microphone, teleprompter, green screen, filtering, composition, movement, camera shooting styles, and ability to photograph in less than ideal situations
  • Ability to operate video camera and all equipment
  • Capability to remain current with new technology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four (4) year undergraduate degree, or three (3) year undergraduate degree plus one full additional year of University in a related program representing four years of study or equivalent in Communications, Photography, Videography and/or Marketing, Broadcast/Media, Visual Arts or Design; major coursework in digital media communications, cinematography, video production

Salary: $59,472 per year

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, 35 hours per week
