A skilled multi-tasker and writer, the Marketing & Communications Coordinator supports the development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of the BC/Yukon Region’s overall marketing, communications and public relations functions and strategies, and provides marketing and communications-related support to the Region’s fund development, health promotion, volunteer and community relations departments and the Region’s Run team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates the development of a positive image, reputation and awareness of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation among all constituents
  • Supports production and dissemination of the Foundation’s collateral materials, including news releases, fact sheets and general brochures and more
  • Supports the marketing and communications activities of the other BC/Yukon Region’s departments (Fund Development, Volunteer/Community Relations, Run, Health Promotion)
  • Assists staff and volunteers in the execution of approved promotional plans in support of other BC/Yukon Region departments by providing strategy and tools
  • Responds to incoming media requests, and coordinates media interviews as needed, including the preparation of briefing documents for spokespeople
  • Prepares presentations, speaking notes and messages of greeting for Foundation spokespeople and representatives.
  • Keeps apprised of media issues in the area of non-profit, cancer/breast cancer, etc.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the website content management tool and makes updates to the Region website as needed, including Community Event notices.
  • Provides project management and coordination/development of related materials
  • Coordinates the production of various donor, volunteer and communications materials, including securing printer quotes, creating and working to a production schedule, editing copy, coordinating approvals of materials and scheduling delivery
  • Provides editorial and project management support to the Region’s annual donor report and other collateral materials
  • Drafts and edits articles for the Region’s newsletters (print and electronic)
  • Works with the Graphic Designer, designs and disseminates electronic donor appeals and various e-marketing pieces via Constant Contact
  • Creates and implements social media campaigns for events and fundraising initiatives (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube etc.)
  • Maintains the CBCF BC/Yukon Region Shop online
  • Codes and facilitates processing of communications POs/invoices, keeping current department records
  • Assists with the development and implementation of Region-wide communications support systems, including photo and video library/archives, maintaining marketing and communication collateral inventory control and tracking, is involved in the creation of standards for e-mail and voice mail messages, and the development of template documents for use by all staff
  • Maintains department files and filing system
  • Performs other duties, as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

Qualifications:

  • University degree or equivalent in related subject area.
  • One to three years’ proven communications experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English, including presentation and interviewing skills
  • Comfort with technology and related software, including MS Office and web-based applications
  • Some print production knowledge.
  • Organizational, analytical and logistical support skills
  • Good organizational skills and multi-tasking ability.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of HTML and content management software.
  • Experience in non-profit and/or fundraising environment an asset.
  • Intermediate skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator).
