Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Marketing this position is responsible for the planning, development and execution of large scale promotional initiatives that support overall WestJet and WestJet Vacations marketing objectives.

Act as project lead on large-scale promotional programs including:
. Strategic campaign and promotional planning and development including mechanic, mediums and messaging
. Set objectives and metrics of success
. Negotiation and promotional development with external partners
. Creation of work back schedule and promotional timelines
. Oversee campaign execution, act as main point of contact internally and externally
. Lead internal teams on campaign execution including communication of roles and responsiblities, weekly status meetings, status reports to leader
. Execute areas of campaign as required
. Completion of campaign wrap up and post mortem - delivery to partners and internal stakeholders
Responsible for the creation of 6-month schedule support promotional plans
. Work with internal teams to determine priorities and areas of focus for seasonal scheduling
. Build a 6 month promotional calendar that addresses these priorities and targets media and promotional partners
. Work alongside team members to execute above plan and make adjustments as required
Coordinate execution of awareness and tactical promotional programs including;
. Ensure the objectives of WestJet/WestJet Vacations are supported and met
. Negotiate with meida and promotional partners to ensure programs meet criteria as determined by Manager
. Work with suppliers and partners, including destinations, hotels, airport authorities and attractions to support their objectives
. Creation of or review/approval of contest rules and regulations (includes possible registration with Regis)
. All contest creative including creation of messaging/creative, approval of all creative, and, as required, laision with internal Marketing teams
. Work with internal support teams to ensure all elements of promotion are executed on time and correctly while ensuring processes are streamlined, efficient and followed
. Determine metrics of success for promotional program
. Evaluate and report on all tactical promotional programs based on metrics determined at onset.
. Update and maintain promotional support status report and documents weekly

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Degree in business or marketing, or equivalent experience (5+ years) in marketing and/or advertising
  • Experience planning and executing large scale promotional campaigns is essential.
  • Strength in development of long-term promotional planning, development and execution
  • Experience in working with various mass media including TV, radio, digital/online, out of home and print
  • Ability to simultaneously manage all aspects of multiple projects while consistently meeting strategic objectives; keep deadlines and tight budgets; provide clear internal/external communication; follow through on tasks; and collect and provide measurable results
  • Ability to project manage campaigns from conceptualization to implementation with flawless execution
  • Experience managing external agencies, partners and vendors
  • Team player
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • High standard of initiative and strong work ethic
  • Experience in the hospitality, travel and/or aviation industry an asset
