Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Marketing Production, the Graphic Designer is responsible for creating high impact solutions for web and graphic design projects. The successful candidate for this role has a flair for producing original quality work with a strong visual sense and the ability to communicate these ideas to colleagues and clients. The Graphic Designer will have experience in creative direction and has an advanced understanding of brand stewardship and implementation. This position offers an opportunity to work in a team environment with autonomy and a high-level of responsibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides creative direction and high-end conceptual design across a wide variety of products including websites, mobile, event displays, multimedia and video, advertising and sales collateral (white papers, brochures, etc.)
  • Manages design projects from concept through production including interfacing with other departments and external suppliers
  • Designs and creates production ready materials for web, print, advertising, display, etc. that meet Halogen's marketing objectives and adhere to the corporate brand
  • Ensures brand identity guidelines are appropriately adhered to in all design projects including ‘one off’ projects where style guides are not yet established
  • Maintains strong communication across the Marketing team to ensure the creative output is world-class and continuously improving

Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in graphic/web design coupled with a passion for design
  • A strong design portfolio with 5+ years of creative graphic and web design experience
  • Excellent knowledge of current web design trends and techniques
  • Experience with turning prototype designs into working HTML/CSS
  • Familiarity with mobile and application design
  • High proficiency in Adobe CS; especially InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver (including web templating)
  • Proven aptitude for quick creative thinking with attention to detail within demanding timelines
  • Technically savvy, results oriented and quality focused
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to articulate design rationale
