Essential Responsibilities:

In this role you will:

  • Contributes across multiple small to medium projects as assigned in a cross-functional environment.
  • Build features for use in software portfolio (software suite), including reusable core components consumed by solution teams.
  • Experience in developing designs using “Design Thinking” techniques.
  • Accustomed to developing User Personas to help guide and inform the interaction design process.
  • Researches emerging design, technology, industry, and market trends for application to GE Intelligent Platform solutions.
  • Understands and applies Agile / Lean UX methodologies.
  • Contribute to the effective documentation and communication of design - via wireframes, mockups, and requirements engineering.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial) or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience UX design

Technical Expertise:

  • Understands value and activities associated with getting feedback for design ideas from users and stakeholders.
  • Focused on content centric solutions. Allows data-driven solutions to emerge at the appropriate time.
  • Familiar with different ways of representing product & service design at different levels of fidelity
  • Strong rapid prototyping skills with web technologies, including CSS, HTML, and JavaScript
  • Understands how company-wide UX standards are integrated into product management and software development.
  • Ability to develop linear storyboard walkthroughs based on business use cases. To be used to guide users and customers through a “happy-path” scenario.
  • Alternately, create interactive wireframes that allow a more organic path through content to test with users and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with the capabilities of Responsive Design methodologies. Ensure all design solutions accommodate a broad range of user platforms and devices.
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (e.g., Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) Business Acumen:
  • Understands user centric design process and delivering highly effective customer solutions.
  • Understands key cross-functional concepts that impact the organization.
  • Understands industry knowledge at a high level.
  • Understands key principles of design thinking, what it is and why it is important. Explores all ideas, regardless of their source.
  • Understands that designing, developing and deploying products and services for infrastructure-level domains requires attention to the complex behavior and relationship within and between systems. Leadership:
  • Assists with developing project plans for UX projects or the UX portion of a larger development project.
  • Communicates clearly the purpose and desired outcomes of meetings.
  • Understands the purpose and role of user experience within a larger collaborative work ecosystem and actively considers the needs and constraints of other parties when making design decisions.
  • Engages with product managers, engineers, and other members of the UX team in discussions; Uses body language to signal undivided attention in collaboration settings.
  • Ability to articulate the user(s) landscape through the creation of personas and journey mapping. Personal Attributes:
