Event Marketing Manager contract
Alberta Beverage Container Recycling Corporation (ABCRC) is a provincially incorporated product stewardship corporation operating on a not for profit basis. ABCRC operates the system that collects and recycles the used beverage containers from bottle depots that refund deposits to the consumer, and works with the bottle depots, beverage manufacturers, and the community to promote the cost-effective, convenient, and widespread recovery of used beverage containers across the Province.
SCOPE OF ROLE: Under the direction of the Vice President, Communications & Marketing, you will serve as an integral member of the ABCRC Communications & Marketing team, responsible for the flawless execution of all Go Green Team (GGT) events across the province, and our Community Champion Programs (CCP). You are a strong communicator, with the ability to develop and manage strong relationships with multiple key stakeholders. In addition, you will be a key media contact, particularly during high profile events and new partner launches with responsibility also for managing a six-figure budget.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Event Program Management:
o Lead a team of GGT ambassadors focused on engaging and educating the public on the benefits of beverage container recycling at community events , festivals and large-scale sponsored events across Alberta (particularly during the summer months), including hiring, training and building the events calendar
o Manage pre-production, production and post production of all event related activities, by working with a variety of external partners
o Track, monitor and report on all event performance metrics
o Develop onsite brand presence, giveaways and promotions, including social media support
o Manage all activities for a new CCP partner launch, including crafting press releases, inviting media, taking photos at the event and coordinating all details for a professionally executed launch event -
Collateral Management:
o Create online and offline collateral messaging that effectively connects with the target audience, ensuring adherence to corporate brand standards at all times
o Work with agency partners to find the best solution for each collateral project considering budget, timing and fulfillment constraints
o Track, manage and control ABCRC collateral materials to support new CCP partners, particularly as they launch new efforts -
Agency and Vendor Management:
o Manage key stakeholders as well as external agencies and vendors on a day-to-day basis to ensure excellence in executing collateral and event support, on time and on budget
o Ensure there is strong communication flow between ABCRC and agency and vendor partners in order to effectively manage agency and vendor resources -
Social Media and Content Continuity:
o Ensure consistency of messaging/content and adherence to brand standards across all social media and online tactics in support of all activities, including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter and both corporate websites (www.abcrc.com and www.dontbeatosser.com )
o Optimize all online tactics in support of both GGT and CCP activities -
Internal Relationship Management:
o The Manager, Event Marketing is responsible for developing positive and productive relationships with colleagues whose partnership is required in the effective execution of the collateral and events programs, in striving to achieve excellence as part of a high performing Communications & Marketing team
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required in a related field
- You have at least 2-4 years experience in event management
- Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills: Ability to partner effectively across an organization and constructively engage in ‘challenging conversations’
- The ability to work independently, but will also possess the ability to work well with others and lead a team
- Strong strategy development and analysis skills: Ability to use data to inform a point of view, develop business goals and objectives and ensure that tactical decisions support strategies
- Experienced in marketing collateral development: Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as the ability to manage message development with external writers
- Experienced in online marketing and media production
- Strong vendor management skills: Develop clear deliverables and ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget
- Strong project management skills: A highly organized, self-starter able to fluidly manage multiple moving pieces and competing priorities, simultaneously
- Strong ability to collaborate with a variety of team members across multiple functional areas, management/experience levels, operating styles and physical locations
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and Wordpress
- Must possess a Driver’s License and be capable of lifting up to 20lbs
- Flexible schedule – this role requires availability for working evenings and weekends as required
