Editorial Strategist contract
CSuite Content is seeking an EditorialStrategist to add to our team of insightful and inquisitive communications experts. We’re a boutique communications agency that works directly with CEOs and high-profile leaders to boost their personal brand and advance their business goals through a combination of thoughtful articles written in their voice, blog posts and social media.
#MustRead (what we’re looking for): The perfect candidate has strong writing and editing chops (ideally, a background in journalism or content writing) and also has some corporate or client management experience (PR/comms), helping companies develop strategies and create content that drives results. Responsibilities:
Develop editorial strategies for CEOs and business leaders — core themes, target audiences, content ideas, channels, etc.
Manage client’s editorial program on an ongoing basis in conjunction with social strategist and writer(s) — brainstorming and scheduling content, conducting interviews, overseeing content creation and editing to ensure strategic alignment, etc.
Brainstorm and trend jack content ideas for articles and op-eds that align with client goals.
Write compelling articles of a journalism-caliber for top-tier media outlets.
Assign and edit stories in collaboration with a network of freelance writers.
Pitch articles to target media outlets and/or identify appropriate channels for publication (blogs, paid opportunities, etc.).
Ensure articles are amplified with creative social media messaging (in conjunction with our social media team).
Client management — be the central point of contact for clients on all editorial issues.
BONUS: Experience creating strategic social media content.
Qualifications:
Postsecondary degree in journalism, comms, or related field.
Min. 2 years of experience in a journalism context, ideally business or feature writing, including interviewing, researching, and fact-checking.
1-2 years corporate communications or marketing experience — ideally at the strategic level (developing strategies, not just writing content); ghostwriting a plus.
Some leadership/project management experience, i.e. leading a team of freelance writers, managing client accounts, etc.
Proven abilities as a both a substantive and copy editor — able to weave multiple priorities into a single, compelling piece of content, while preserving tone and readability.
Media pitching experience.
Experience working with corporate clients or in a business context, with a confident client-facing demeanor
Strategic mindset — able to identify client business goals and align content efforts accordingly.
Terms and compensation:
This position is a contract role (ranging from 20-35 hours per week). We’re based in Vancouver, BC, but the role can be done remotely. Hours and schedule somewhat flexible.
