Director of Marketing

We have a full-time role for a Director of Marketing with Browns Restaurant Group Corporate Office. The ideal candidate is ready to take on a department leadership role in this mid-sized restaurant franchisor company. The franchisor representing Browns Socialhouse and Cats Socialhouse in Canada, and Scotty Browns in the US, is currently positioned for rapid growth. Visit for more information.

Reporting to the Corporate Senior Executives and the President, this person will execute the brand vision for this fast-paced, expanding franchisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage annual marketing plan and budget for department
  • Develop brand and communication strategies (internal and external) with an innovative approach; manage all corporate communication activities
  • Manage research and customer feedback loops
  • Oversee, approve and direct Franchisee advertising and promotional programs
  • Work with vendors for system-wide visibility on appropriate traffic/image building programs
  • Management and sales growth of the company-wide Gift Card program
  • Participate in product development and menu development process, based on brand and research direction
  • Oversee development of all brand image components, in conjunction with the Director of Design & Construction
  • Ensure that brand management is clear, well-communicated and protected through existing and future Trademarks
  • Develop a Franchise recruitment and sales strategy
  • Enhance our web presence and develop/guide Social Media programs
  • Develop and evolve local marketing toolkit for Franchise community, including coaching, monitoring and analysis
  • Manage personnel within the department, and reach out to associated team members in the field
  • Communicate with Franchise community on our brand expectations, execution in the field and business-building activities
  • Represent the company to appropriate industry and community stakeholder groups

Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in hospitality marketing, communications and/or public relations with demonstrated success
  • BS/BA in Marketing or Communications or related field
  • Professional or Educational qualifications are flexible but must be appropriate for this role, and leadership experience is critical
  • National or International experience in a Franchise environment an asset
  • Understands foodservice industry metrics (Hospitality experience a definite asset)
  • Retail, package goods, and service sector experience are all valuable
  • Experience with new media and internet advertising
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage projects from inception through execution
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A hunger to learn and ability to flourish in a dynamic, high-growth, entrepreneurial environment
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter with hands-on approach
  • Track record of success in a high-growth environment
  • Self-directed, as well as team-oriented
  • Excellent organizational skills, can meet tight deadlines, able to multi-task, and effectively manage change
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite an asset
  • Must have a vehicle
  • Available to work nights and weekends when the task demands so
  • Must have a CAN DO attitude
