Director of Communications contract
The Alberta College of Art + Design is one of only four publicly funded Canadian post-secondary institutions devoted exclusively to the advanced education of visual artists and designers. Through the Academic Plan exercise currently underway, the college is developing an exciting long term vision that reaffirms its educational mission within an arts and cultural context where design and creativity are keys to the cultural prosperity agenda.
The college welcomes applications for the following regular part-time, temporary Management/Exempt position:
Director of Communications, (Temporary - up to one year) 1112-JA-MT-30
Reporting to the President + CEO and working closely with the college’s senior management team, this part-time position (0.8 FTE) will be responsible for a large and demanding portfolio including; development and implementation of a comprehensive communications plan supporting ACAD’s strategic plan; monitoring emergent issues and trends; management and implementation of communications materials including coordination and preparation of print publications, media and promotional strategy, content for the web site and management of web content, fact sheets, photos, videos and newsletters. The Director is responsible for supervising the contracting of the college’s public and media relations efforts while serving as communications counsel to the President + CEO.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in Journalism, Public Relations and/or Communications with a minimum of five (5) years of progressive and results oriented experience in media relations, corporate communications and/or public relations. Key attributes for success in this position include being a creative, strategic thinker with well-developed relationship skills and the ability to develop and execute strategic promotional and issue-management communication plans.
