Job Description: Digital Advisor

Title Digital Advisor

Summary

Reporting to the Digital Manager of WestJet.com, the Digital Advisor is responsible for the overall operations, optimization and success of their products. They will support the Digital Manager in defining product roadmaps by conducting market research and providing analytic insights of their current products. They will work and collaborate closely with fellow WestJetters on the digital team and other teams, as well as with 3rd parties. The Digital Advisor performs a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, collecting, defining, and articulating business requirements, communicating project progress to stakeholders and reporting against defined objectives and key performance indicators.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Digital Advisor are categorized as follows:

Product Owner (35%)

  • Lead day to day operations and provide project support with respect to owned products
  • Gain detailed knowledge of product such as dependencies, limitations, functionalities and opportunities for improvement
  • Measure, report and communicate on the success of digital projects using web analytics and other resources
  • Conduct regular audits of products to ensure a high level of guest experience
  • Establish and maintain cross functional relationships throughout relevant areas in WestJet (i.e. IT, Sales, Marketing, Guest Services, Airports, Market Research)

Project Management (25%)

  • Create clear project briefs outlining current situation, goals and objectives, key performance indicators
  • Communicate clearly and effectively to all team members and stakeholders providing meeting agendas, takeaways and recaps
  • Keep all stakeholders informed on project status, addressing changes, risks and constraints
  • Manage and prioritize scope and timelines
  • Measure and report against set objectives

Business Analyst (20%)

  • Collect, define and articulate business requirements
  • With the support of the Digital Manager, make business decisions based on digital and corporate strategy, providing solutions that meet business needs as well as respects and leverages digital best practices, not hindering guests' user experiences
  • Work with analytics and customer satisfaction teams, utilize available tools and resources to monitor key performance indicators, identify trends and make recommendations

Digital Expert (20%)

  • Perform market research and competitive analysis as it pertains to owned products
  • Participate in and conduct product demos (for external or internal use), continuously looking for ways to better guest experience or create internal efficiencies
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in the digital, mobile and competitive landscape by following industry news and digital leaders
  • Continue to grow knowledge of airline industry and understand digital landscape
  • Skillset Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, work collaboratively as a team, and work on multiple projects at one time
  • Ability to manage 3rd party vendors
  • Comfortable with a variety of software and programs
  • Excellent communication skills in dealing with all organizational levels
  • Understanding of Search Engine Optimization, Web Analytics and KPIs, User Experience and digital best practices
  • Understanding of principles of target markets and customer segments
  • Understanding of digital commerce in the travel industry or other e-commerce industries

Education

Bachelor’s Degree or Relevant Diploma

Applicable experience

  • Minimum 3 years experience in digital
  • Minimum 3 years experience in marketing, sales, communications and/or relevant field

Specific Responsibilities

  • Lead operational monthly release processes
  • Facilitate and conduct ongoing meetings, representing digital and business interests
  • Work closely with the different teams (internal and external), and stakeholders
  • Prioritize and triage of Mingle stories (PM tool)
  • Support the implementation of new features and updates, working with the business analyst to gather requirements, creative services to develop mockups and the business to communicate project status
  • Drive planning, estimation and release activities
  • Be the liaison with business, storefront owners, mobile and App teams, communicating dependencies and impacts from release updates
  • Obtain release sign off from business
  • Work closely with Creative Services for digital requests when digital team involvement is required
  • Support and help implement adhoc content and configuration requests from the business
