Job purpose: Manages a specialized team of Product Developers, Patternmakers, and sample makers in their efforts to manage product from design concept through production readiness while ensuring a consistent level of quality, fit, and performance.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to category Product Developers, Patternmakers, prototype makers
Train the team to work closely with Design, Technical Services, and Quality to deliver production worthy samples and specifications
Manage workload between team members and calendar requirements to ensure timelines are met throughout design, development and production process
Report team performance metrics regularly to management team (e.g. product category execution against the corporate calendar, workflow, team capacity vs. line list requirements)
Maintain regular communication between Design, Advanced R&D, Technical Services and Quality to ensure standard practices, consistent fit, pattern and construction methods are established and upheld
Ensure use of standard spec documentation to provide sufficient detail to accurately produce finished goods, maintain an accurate database of BOM information, aid raw material purchasing and support Quality process
Enforce use of standard costing practices and up to date references to provide accurate prototype estimates and product category cost and margin analysis
Guide Product Developers in negotiations of new product cost sheets with factories, working to ensure consistent RM values, and appropriate direct labour values are utilized
Support factory execution of new product to ensure Arc’teryx continues to achieve state of the art opportunities for product innovation
Hire and train suitable resources to meet category output requirements
Manage limited repertoire of models to maintain adequate knowledge to be able provide coverage as required
Ensure that Arc’teryx brand standards are met
Support marketing in their creation of labeling, packaging and sales materials
Required Experience & Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Apparel or Textile Design, Merchandising, or Apparel Engineering
5+ years in product development or sourcing in performance athletic apparel or technical outdoor apparel
Significant experience in a leadership capacity in a product development or sourcing role
Knowledge of apparel construction, material construction and properties, pattern making, costing, bill of materials, embroidery and surface applications
Knowledge of fabric sourcing, development, ensuring quality standards, lab dip management and fabric costings
Proven skills at problem solving, interpreting design intent and product innovation;
Proven performance history with domestic and offshore vendors and manufacturers; strong verbal and written communication skills; extreme attention to detail;
ability to manage multiple priorities; intermediate to advanced computer skills in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office
