Job Summary

    Refresh Financial provides financial tools that help underserved Canadians gain long-term access to affordable forms of credit. Since 2013, the Secured Savings Loan, the first product of its kind in Canada, has allowed clients to build credit and savings at the same time. As Creative Lead reporting to the Director of Marketing, you will help us get our story to the right people, at the right time, and in the right way. You will lead the design and production of visual and audio materials and media to support advertising, broadcast, collateral, and web communications. You are passionate about achieving results, providing white-glove service to our existing partners and love finding new partners and opportunities. You know how to work with a team, and take pride in professionally representing the company’s values & vision to individuals within and outside the organization.

To do this you will:

  • Oversee the creation of art, photo, video, and layout design across the Refresh portfolio for both client, partner, and internal-facing communications
  • provide outstanding user experience design by performing a full range of UX activities to create user delight as well as business insight, including qualitative and quantitative UX research
  • using available research and insight, create personas, experience journeys and other artifacts that increase empathy and understanding of user motivation. Work with producers to build according to user needs
  • Create user interfaces from start to finish including flows, sketches, wireframes, mockups, specifications and final assets
  • Maintain usability and aesthetic consistency through carefully selected typography, layout and interaction standards. Work closely with developers to ensure optimum production efficiency and user experience
  • Ensure the highest level of brand integrity by working with stakeholders to understand and communicate brand attributes, creating materials that align with brand and business strategy
  • Stay current with best practices of UX and Brand design, and champion the benefits of design best-practices, working to integrate them into existing Refresh teams and our culture
  • Using a number of mediums, including print, video, digital, and audio, serve as a Champion of the Refresh brand by using your creativity to help our story come to life and inspire trust and action with the wider public
  • Provide assistance as needed to surrounding teams including ad-hoc art direction and design guidance, striving to be inventive and push the boundaries of current standards with a commitment to make Refresh, those within and outside the organization, better every day
  • Establishes and implements design and format standards and processes to produce consistent and high quality results
  • Work with any outside or contract vendors to approves and coordinate projects

  • A Jack (or Jill) of many trades. You get excited about opportunities to design and collaborate and then work on some video or whatever creative task is going to get us where we need to go
  • You understand design and smart copy, and recognize fresh approaches to advertising
  • You love testing and thinking critically about why one creative element worked and why another one didn’t
  • You are in-the-know about current and emerging trends, new data and are personally and professionally committed to doing your best work each day
  • You are decisive when you need to be, but are a savvy collaborator
  • You are good at setting and meeting deadlines and can communicate them in well to others on the team
  • Respect is a non-negotiable for you. Your references talk about how great you are across a number of departments
  • You can handle multiple projects and multiple deadlines
  • High energy and passionate about white-glove service for partners and clients
  • Strong conceptualization ability combined with a strong visual communication ability
  • Proven track record in marketing and graphic design, a portfolio would be fantastic!
  • Exceptional communication and design skills with an incredible level of attention to detail
  • Someone with a strong working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and associated industry design tools
  • A thought leader in your field – you like to try and test new things, and desire to be on the cutting edge of emerging trends, rather than catching up
  • Degree in business or marketing, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years previous experience in a creative position is required
  • Organized and detail oriented to multiple projects
  • Ability to thrive & have fun within a results-oriented environment
