Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Community Manager is responsible for overseeing social media activity across Humber College. The incumbent monitors, tracks, collates, develops, contributes to, shares and curates social content across Humber’s social media properties while working to connect and build relationships between Humber’s social communities. The incumbent is the primary responder to social media inquiries (for example questions asked on Humber’s Twitter or posted on the College’s Facebook page); works with employees, departments and schools who post content on social media to ensure consistency of communications and appropriateness of tone and content; and works to build Humber’s brand while protecting and preserving its reputation. The Community Manager will also be responsible for developing and communicating Humber’s social media policy and strategy (with the Director of Communications).

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a degree, preferably in communications or a related discipline, along with a minimum of five years working as a community manager or in a related role (such as social media manager). Additional qualifications include: proficiency in graphic design (including InDesign and Photoshop), video production, photography and content management system(s); strong proficiency using social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, Snapchat, etc.); superior writing skills; demonstrated proficiency in search engine optimization and content marketing; and superior time management and organizational abilities. Experience working at Humber or another postsecondary environment (college or university) will be considered an asset.
