Communications & Engagement Specialist

We are a leading automotive company in Southern Ontario and are currently seeking a Communications & Engagement Specialist to join our Corporate Employee Services team in Brampton, Ontario. Reporting to the Head of Employee Services, the Communications & Engagement Specialist assists with developing the employee communications and engagement strategy for Performance Auto Group. Our ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, self starter with a passion for people and communication. You will create strategic messaging and communication for both internal and external audiences. You’ll also play a key role in the development and implementation of employee engagement initiatives with the ultimate goal of driving the employee experience in the areas of Culture, Career Mobility, Mentorship/Internship Programs, Diversity & Inclusion and Employee Recognition.
In this role you will:
Plan, develop and implement an employer communication plan and strategy for the Employee Services Team and PAG as a whole.
Create compelling and articulate communication that is aligned with the PAG brand and personality
Champion all employer branding communication via social media channels
Partner with the marketing team to manage and update the content on the company’s careers website
Produce engaging and effective copy for use on relevant social media platforms and communication channels
Write and edit job posting materials for the talent acquisition team
Partner with Head of ES and Talent Acquisition to develop and implement initiatives that promote the career paths and career opportunities at Performance Auto Group
Serve as the project lead for career paths and career development content design and delivery
Coordinate meet and greet and speaking events with local schools
Manage and update content on employee intranet
Plan and coordinate employee recognition initiatives and events
Organize employee engagement initiatives, employee intranet, and employee newsletter
Champion diversity and inclusion initiatives including employee programs, external events, speak series and outreach
Plan and coordinate engagement initiatives that promote an inclusive, fun and performance driven culture within PAG
Champion all employee related events including but not limited to social events, charitable events, internal and external career events
Measure and evaluate employee communication processes and advise on recommendations
Execute other related duties as determined by the Head of Employee Services
A University Degree or College Diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Superior written and verbal communication skills, with strong ability to write effectively for both internal and external audiences
A Strong Communications and Marketing background
Experience with automotive dealership operations
Previous HR experience considered an asset
Experience supporting fast paced retail work environments
Demonstrated experience leveraging wide use of social media channels for company communications
The ability to think creatively and implement innovative strategies
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
Flexibility and adaptability to changing needs and demands with the willingness to work longer hours as circumstances require
The ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and other stakeholders
A strong work ethic and a positive, can do team attitude
Demonstrated leadership ability
Motivated, energetic, goal-oriented, and positive outlook critical
Proficiency in cloud based communications platforms, specifically G Suite.
