The Art Director is expected to take a creative brief, sketches or even a conversation and turn it into a creative solution that addresses the client’s identified objectives and requirements. The job entails overlooking the design of branding and advertising for clients and ensuring that the new branding and advertising fits in with the client’s requirements and image they wish to promote for their company or product. The main aspects of this role are to interpret a client’s communications strategy and then develop proposed creative approaches and treatments that align with that strategy. Another is to initiate and stimulate creative ideas for and from the creative designers. This position is considered a supervisory position and is overtime exempt.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

CONCEIVES, CREATES AND DESIGNS AWARD-WINNING CREATIVE SOLUTIONS

Understand and clarifies briefs; meeting with clients as needed or at the discretion of the Creative Director.

Develops creative concepts through sketches and graphic design.

Participates in brainstorming sessions to develop creative concepts that speak to the clients’ and end users’ goals (strategic and financial).

Communicates creative concepts clearly back to the Creative Director to ensure that they reflect the value proposition.

Develops client project and campaigns through graphic design.

Works on location and attends shoots.

Ensures that quality of work of self and fellow designers is delivered on time and in line with client’s expectations, the target audience, and according to the strategy.

MANAGES, MOTIVEATES AND DEVELOPS THE CREATIVE DESIGNERS

Provides constructive feedback to designers in a sensitive and motivating way.

Mentors creative designers through the conceptual process.

Contributes new sources of creative inspiration of the creative team on the whole.

Diffuses problems and puts forward solutions that are in the best interest of the clients, William Joseph and staff.

Identifies development opportunities for staff to ensure that William Joseph utilizes innovation design and creative concepts.

Works with Senior Art Director to address performance issues in a timely, professional and effective manner.

INTERNAL SUPPORT

Exemplifies William Joseph’s core values through day-to-day actions.

Acts as company advocate and embodies William Joseph brand standards.

Demonstrates incredible attention to detail, leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the client receives excellence in service and quality design, remaining within the predetermined scope and timelines set for a particular project.

Manages multiple projects and maintains tight timelines, often working around strict, and sometimes sudden deadlines.

Demonstrates creative, dynamic, flexible approaches to problems and resolves issues in timely and professional manner.

Supports other team members in a fast-paced, controlled chaotic environment, often working long hours and occasionally evenings or weekends to meet deadlines.

Logs all hours to Clients and Profits.

Observes and respects that all William Joseph process are in place; working with other Account Managers and Department Managers to improve and streamline processes wherever possible.

Drives the constant evolution of William Joseph and related internal projects as needed.

Other duties as required by William Joseph.

QUALIFICATIONS:

BA or BFA in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Computer Graphics, Multimedia, or Illustration.

Minimum five years’ experience.

Demonstrated excellence in graphic design skills
