POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Develop sales plans that effectively market Acklands-Grainger’s value proposition to customers in their account territories to drive profitable sales growth. Utilize Professional Selling Skills (PSS) to understand customer needs and present cost effective solutions which will increase customer spend loyalty and retention.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrates and excels in Acklands-Grainger Performance Drivers, including but not limited to the following behaviours:

  • Manage an account portfolio of approximately 75 medium to large size customers, including National Accounts customers, as well as executing a balanced focus of new/new customer acquisition activity
  • Weekly field activity expectations; 23 customer calls including a minimum of 3 new customer development calls
  • Identify and classify account opportunities and potential by establishing call priorities and frequencies (pipeline report, customer action plan)
  • Develop and implement account penetration plans and strategies to include regular account business reviews for key customers
  • Ability to understand customer needs and concerns to help them get the job done and win their business
  • Aggressively follow up on leads to convert to profitable sales
  • Manage and maintain customer segment accounts, while increasing customer awareness of AGI through our product and service offering
  • Grow share of wallet with these customers and determine potential customers that may have more complex requirements
  • Partner with AGI suppliers/vendors and internal AGI sales resources, such as National Accounts and Specialists to achieve profitable sales goals
  • Communicate regularly with branch team in order to resolve customer issues
  • Install AGI solutions such as eCommerce and Private Brands with customers
  • Other sales related duties including but not limited to supporting the Branch and customers as required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 to 5 years of sales experience is required, outside sales experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently with strong self management
  • Superior interpersonal and customer service skills to effectively build relationships
  • Demonstrated team-playing attitude
  • Strong communication skills, ability to convey message in an organized, clear and effective manner
  • A self starter, taking action to achieve goals beyond what is required
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Goes beyond job requirements to seek opportunities and generate ideas for improvements
  • Proficient computer skills and aptitude
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
  • A post secondary education is preferred

BASIC REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO ROLE PROGRESSION :

  • Demonstrates and excels in all AGI Performance Drivers (Wow The Customer, Have A Winning Attitude, Drive For The Best Results, Make The Team Better)
  • Consistently tracking at a minimum of 100% target of sales and gross margin budget
  • Actively selling in this role for 1 ½ to 2 years with consistent performance that meets or exceeds expectations
  • Identified as a PSS champion by the DSM to lead, coach and mentor team members
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills; derived from mentoring and on-boarding of new sellers
  • Strong and demonstrated communication skills; effectively expressing ideas, both verbal and written
