We are seeking an experienced Web Designer II to join our Information Services team in our Edmonton Corporate Office.

Position Focus: Under the direction of the Web Development Manager, the Web Designer II will perform a wide range of visual communication tasks with a primary focus on web technology.

Experience/Competencies:

• Minimum two (2) years experience working in the design field.
  Expert knowledge of graphic design theory, colour principles, layout and typography.

• Expert knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite.

• Good understanding of Javascript, CSS, and Flash.

• Experience working with online or electronic forms.

• Experience in financial services or insurance industry an asset.

• Intermediate skill level using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Good working knowledge of both Mac and PC platforms.

• Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills with a strong ability to multitask and manage project deadlines with minimal supervision.

Education:

• Minimum two (2) year diploma in Information Technology, Web Design, Digital Multimedia or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, test, and maintain web UIs and web based applications using accepted usability and behavior design principles as well as adhering to the corporate style guidelines.

• Responsible for carrying out projects from mock-up to launch, including designing prototypes and wireframes, then moving the final product to production.

• Conceptualize and produce graphic design elements for various mediums. Utilize existing photo and illustrations to produce supporting imagery.

• Consult with clients in order to determine their communication needs and goals and ensure service request and change management processes are followed.

• Create reusable and easily maintainable CSS.

• Create and provide maintenance of dynamic electronic (online or PDF) forms using Adobe LiveCycle Designer and Acrobat Professional.

• Track time and progress using project management software.

• Work on complex assignments requiring continuous periods of concentration, with moderate interruption.

• Provide overall leadership to the Web team in Graphics Design best practices.

• Provide user support for various web applications.

• Assist in internet/intranet administration.
