Videographer & Photographer contract
Description:
Working under the supervision of the Creative Director, Advancement Communications and Marketing, the incumbent will proactively identify new and existing multimedia applications by providing a range of video and photographic services to support promotional and marketing strategies. Using a combination of creative design and technical knowledge, the incumbent creates new and improves existing DUA communication and marketing materials through the use of rich media deploying video, audio, animation and photography. The overall multimedia service for the Division of University Advancement (DUA) includes; Advancement Communication, Alumni Relations, campaign communications, Annual Fund, President’s Circle, Gift Planning, Donation Management and Stewardship. The incumbent provides the same expert services to members of the greater university community when required. The incumbent also conceives and produces sophisticated rich media materials and photography that reflects innovative thought and maintains the structural integrity of advancement branding exercises. The incumbent will also possess superior photographic skills and will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of a photo bank.
Qualifications:
(MINIMUM)
Education:
Completion of a three (3) year advanced college diploma in a related field (ex: photography, visual design, videography, graphic arts); or equivalent in education and experience.
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience with video and digital photo; Possession of an exceptional level of creative flair, versatility, conceptual/visual ability and originality, demonstrable through a strong demo reel and/or portfolio; Creative and demonstrable experience with planning, storyboarding, shooting, editing, production and post-production; Must be a strong storyteller; Must have comprehensive experience with storyboarding and storyboard development, After Affects, Adobe Premiere, Avid Media Composer, Final Cut, Photo Shop and Light Room; Must be knowledgeable in producing web content and a wide variety of marketing materials; Any experience with 2D/3D animations for presentations is a definite asset.
Skills:
Experience with graphic design software including Adobe InDesign and Illustrator is an asset; Experience with mobile devices, podcasts and web authoring tools and software such as Fireworks, HTML and XHTML, CSS, Javascript, Actionscript, ColdFusion, Net, Flash, or using code-generating programs, such as Dreamweaver and Visual Studio; Knowledge in Power Point, Microsoft Word, and Excel; Must have full understanding of legal, copyright and trademark laws as it pertains to the use of and reproduction of video and images; Knowledge of photographic technology, equipment and techniques including editing and archiving; Competency in applying theories and techniques; Knowledge of production process for publishing and printing; Familiarity with Photoshop and ability to work with digital image files.
Other:
The incumbent must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle a variety of assignments at one time; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Excellent project management skills.
