The Role

As a User Experience Designer at Synacor, you will be responsible for brainstorming, wireframing, designing, prototyping and implementing design and experience solution for our leading edge mobile and web based products. You will apply user-centered design methods to translate user needs, business objectives, and technology capabilities into world-class experiences for leading companies.

  • Create UI wireframes, concepts, designs & prototypes utilizing various design software tools and technologies for mobile and web applications
  • Design and present marketing concepts and materials
  • Modify and implement designs generated by others to ensure quality products and adherence to various brand and client guidelines
  • Prepare and present final layout and suggest improvements as needed to supervisor or client for approval
  • Present comps to team members, constituents, and stake holders; back up and defend design rational
  • Develop and define design standards in form of style guides
  • Create and/or contribute to the production of user interface production documentation such as personas, scenarios, use cases, and wireframe drawings

About You

  • Bachelor's degree / College diploma in design-related discipline preferred: Graphic Design, Information or Interface design, Human-Computer Interaction, Communication Design
  • 3+ years of design experience
  • Strong portfolio containing examples of professional design work with an emphasis on mobile software / web user experience designs required
  • Proficient to expert in: Photoshop or Sketch, Illustrator, After effects and prototyping tools
  • Usability testing experience or focus group testing experience are a plus
  • Knowledge of the internet environment & mobile landscapes
  • Experience working with information architects in translating wireframes, site maps, functional specifications, and branding requirements into a working product. Working collaboratively with development and engineering teams to implement rich end to end user experiences
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Experience in working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • A strong ''can do'' attitude and flexibility, and a commitment to creative excellence in the face of changing priorities and requirements
  • Strong design skills focusing on user experience, user interface, typography, layout, color, and navigation
  • Working knowledge of HTML, xHTML, CSS, and web standards
