The Technical Writer for the marketing department is responsible for drafting and editing a variety of technical marketing communications through various print and online channels, and driving the process of delivering unified and consistent messages to customers and prospects.

Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Supervisor, Content Marketing and in consultation with Sales, Marketing and Product Management, the Technical Writer is responsible for the following activities:

  • Creation of content for specific technical product marketing collateral including datasheets, white papers, case studies and web messaging;
  • Create storyboards for videos;
  • Review, proof, and edit communication materials for accuracy and consistency of message;
  • Identify new opportunities to repurpose existing content throughout the website;
  • Co-ordinate the various aspects of the writing projects;
  • Support the PR effort of the company including press release writing and press relationships;
  • Collaborate and execute on the SEM/SEO strategy;
  • Work effectively as a member of a fast-paced team with the ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree (communications, computing, business administration, or related fields);
  • 2+ years' experience in writing preferably in the technology or solution software sales industries;
  • Strong technical understanding abilities
  • Ability to write compelling messages for varied projects with technical audiences
  • Superior organization skills: must be able to direct multiple initiatives simultaneously and be responsive to internal and external constraints and inter-dependencies;
  • Strong attention to detail for sentence structure and grammatical accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written);
  • Must be perfectly fluent in English and possess a workable knowledge of French;
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Microsoft Excel) and desktop graphics applications preferred;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;
  • Creative with a knack for enhancing the web usability experience an asset
