SVP, Financial Planning and Analysis

a day in the life of the SVP – FP&A

  • Responsible for driving the annual strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting process across all brands, regions, and functions. This includes partnering with strategy to drive long range plans and targets, bridging that to the formulation of the annual operating plan, and then updating reforecasts throughout the year
  • Engage in evaluating current and future strategic initiatives. Drive the financial and decision-support analytics to support key business initiatives and decisions
  • Drive and monitor capital planning process
  • Drive and monitor corporate SG&A and expense management
  • Review overall business results and direct executive/ board level reporting and presentations
  • Identify risks to performance and develop actions plans with management team
  • Lead quarterly business review meeting
  • Create, report and analyze key financial KPI’s through the delivery of operational dashboards
  • Lead Canada and US FP&A teams (sales, P&L planning, operational/decision support)
  • Partner and collaborate closely with key cross functional partners - Accounting, Strategy, International Finance, Retail Operations, Merchandising, Sourcing, and Planning teams
  • Owner of the Hyperion Budgeting & Planning application
  • Assist in modeling quarterly guidance to provide to the Street, in collaboration with IR function

The finer print

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Economics or related fields CA, CFA or MBA preferred
  • · 10-15+ years of progressive financial analysis experience in multi-million-dollar retail business environment, including 5+ years in a senior leadership position

  • 10+ years of progressive financial analysis experience in billion-dollar global retail business environment, including 5+ years in a senior leadership position
  • Strong financial background; exceptional analytical and modeling skills; expert knowledge of financial statements
  • Experience with Planning systems such as Hyperion, Essbase
  • Strategic and analytical thinker that takes pride in quality
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; Self-starter approach to work, with an eagerness to consistently meet and exceed objectives and take on more responsibility
  • Seasoned leader with effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong executive presence and command skills
  • Proven experience in leading teams including providing direction, understanding resource capability and successfully driving results working with internal or external resources
