REPORTS TO: Manager, Communications

SALARY: Commensurate with experience

POSTING DATE: April 16, 2014

CLOSING DATE: April 26, 2014 or until suitable candidate is found


Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Senior Communications Advisor is accountable for providing strategic advice in support of the overall communications strategy. This position is focused on identifying challenges and opportunities, and recommending and delivering communication solutions, tools and resources. As a communications expert, the Advisor is accountable for proactively supporting the delivery of Communication processes to the client, and effectively delivering on the day to day functions of the Communications department.


  • Knowledge of best practices in media relations, strategic communications, event planning, web communications
  • Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or Business
  • Ability to identify customer needs and recommend appropriate communications solutions
  • Technical proficiency and professional judgement normally associated with at least 7 years of experience
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Self motivated and team oriented with a history of being a self starter and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Understand the value of strategic communications in delivering business outcome
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Champion a customer service attitude
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate airport security clearance is required
