CANDIDATE PROFILE:
The ideal candidate is a seasoned Public Relations professional with experience in the entertainment /attractions business.

SCOPE OF POSITION:
To ensurethe development and execution of all public relation efforts, including, but not limited to media relations (publicity and crisis management), media promotions, community relations, and special event programs for the company.  Drive business and ultimately impact the bottom line.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Media Relations

  • Execute strategic communication plans
  • Research and craft targeted media materials (press releases / advisories, data sheets)
  • Serve as park spokesperson, as required
  • Maintain and update media centre, digital resources, media lists and competitive files
  • Research and update / craft  position statements and fact sheets
  • Assist with advocacy and policy projects
  • Aggressively research and develop advance publicity opportunities and pitch and pursue strategic and effective press coverage (national and regional)
  • Produce strategic media preview events
  • Media monitoring and comprehensive analysis and reporting

Media Promotions

  • Book and execute promotional calendar and manage quality and integrity of brand, key messages and strategies through on air and on site promotions
  • Provide quality and detailed quantitative analysis of programs
  • Plan and supervise execution of on site promotions

Community Relations

  • Coordinate community relation plans and activities (including monetary donations, gifts in kind and character appearances)
  • Represent the park in the community, as required

Special Events

  • Develop and execute event plans
  • Liaise with event partners, suppliers
  • Identify event opportunities and provide detailed proposals

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-secondary school education in a related field as well as 3 - 5 years experience
  • On-camera/on-air experience an asset
  • Prior experience with research, development and execution of special events
  • Experience with development of marketing plans and budgets
  • Proven written, oral and interpersonal skills
  • Computer proficiency a must
