Program Manager – School of Continuing Studies – York University

PLEASE NOTE: Applications for this posting will be accepted until position is filled.

Founded in 1959, York is Canada’s third largest university and is shaping the global thinkers who will define tomorrow.

The newly formed School of Continuing Studies is rapidly expanding.  It will be one of the largest and most innovative of its kind in the country with the potential to reflect the full spectrum of the continuing education field. With unique course delivery models and top quality programs, the School will increase the University’s adult and international student population and will be central to the University’s overall growth strategy.

The School of Continuing Studies (continue.yorku.ca) is seeking an entrepreneurial and results-oriented individual to assume a key role in the development and management of new professional education programs. Reporting to the Director, Professional Education Programs, the Program Manager will conduct market research, build business cases for new programs, develop new programs (in unique online, blended and in-class formats), and manage all aspects of program delivery.

The Program Managers have dynamic and varied portfolios.  They identify new opportunities for programs, forecast which programs will be successful, champion professional programs through the approval process, develop program curriculum with subject matter experts, schedule courses, hire and manage instructors, liaise with marketing staff and market the programs, ensure quality control, and develop and manage program budgets.

As the ideal candidate, you bring a solid background in business management, and adult education. An undergraduate degree in a relevant field (such as business administration or adult education) is required.  A CTDP certification or a certificate, diploma or other certification related to adult or online education would be considered an asset. A graduate degree is preferred.

You have several years of relevant results-oriented experience including program or product management, e-learning, curriculum development, instructional design, adult education, training & development, business development, business administration, market research, marketing, project management, financial and budget planning, supervision and human resources.  Entrepreneurial experience in a start-up environment or taking new programs or services to market would be an asset.

You contribute to growth by developing and executing solid project plans, ensuring clear communication with internal and external partners, and maintaining a sense of humour in all situations. You possess superior business acumen, critical thinking, and project management skills and you are adept at keeping many balls in the air. With an appetite for challenge, you are excited by the opportunity to play a key role in building a new School at a premier institution.
