Bombardier Aerospace is looking for a creative and passionate Interaction Design Integrator to join this vision and our team to lead the development of a distinctive, immersive and intuitive system for all man-machine interfaces within the passenger cabin aircraft:  Buttons and switches, handles and levers, screen-based interfaces with cabin entertainment system, wireless connectivity - everywhere the passenger interacts with the aircraft, in the development of next generation aircraft cabins for our business aircraft division.

We are looking for someone to join

In your role, you will;

  • Work closely and integrate in a cross-functional team with our internal Industrial Design, Engineering, Operations and Project Management teams, and liase directly with our chosen IFE/CMS system suppliers to maintain product requirements, validate functionality and system robustness, and ensure the product delivers world class functionality and robustness;

  • Have strong leaning towards User Interface and Interaction Design, or your experience may be in Software Development or other related fields of development.  We want you to bring your passion, creativity and attention-to-detail to our team;

  • Be motivated by challenge and a drive for innovation and problem-solving.

  • Be skilled in concept generation and development through sketching and graphic design software, have a strong technical aptitude, both in software and physical interfaces;

  • Ideally have a bit of a tech-geek and will design today in anticipation of future developments in technology;

  • Develop overall user experience concepts through the use of storyboards and prototypes that demonstrate creative and seamless functionality within the aircraft;

  • Be involved through the complete design development process: conducting research to inform innovative and varied concept generation, developing these concepts through sketching, wire framing and prototyping (physical and software) and the creation of presentation and technical materials.

  • Be involved hands-on in the design and fabrication of mockups to evaluate form development, ergonomic evaluation and functionality, integration with aircraft systems, and to be sure these can be properly realized in production;

  • Many of our technology and physical interfaces are achieved through collaboration with vendors and partners who provide the sub-systems;

  • Serve as IFE integrator across our team of vendors and partners and we develop;

  • Provide direction and ensure that functionality, robustness, flexibility, and overall passenger experience is maintained in the final product.

Qualifications

As our ideal candidate,

  • You have a Degree in Industrial Design, Interface Design, Software development, or equivalent;
  • You have a minimum of 3-8 years industrial design experience;
  • You have experience in product design and the development of entertainment or communications systems for transportation;
  • You have strong Graphic Design abilities (essential);
  • You have strong knowledge of design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Visio;
  • You have the ability to develop quick GUI prototypes in HTML/CSS and Java or other such software;
  • You are available to travel periodically;
  • You are bilingual (French and English), oral and written (an asset).
