Inside Sales - New Business Development Full-Time

Purpose of Job

The Inside Business Development Manager (IBDM) is responsible for closing new Small Market Accounts. The IBDM serves as the primary contact for the decision-makers and leads the sales process. The IBDM works closely with the Inside Account Manager and other company resources to successfully transition account management responsibility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilites

Researches, contacts, qualifies, prepares and presents packaged solutions to acquire new Small Market Accounts

  • Works with the ISM to develop target account lists
  • Coordinates and leads sales efforts with other sales resources (e.g., Inside Account Manager, Product Specialist, and Sales Manager)
  • Ensures smooth transition of on-going account management to Inside Account Manager
Customer Time (70%)
  • 40%: Customer contact selling time
  • 10%: Customer contract maintenance time
  • 20%: Lead and Prospect preparation time/ SFD
Non-Customer Time (30%)
  • 10%: General administration, personal and other
  • 20%: Internal meetings and Training


Knowledge/ Skill Requirements:
  • Ability to set targets and design growth plans
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer relation skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates consultative selling skills
  • Demonstrates strong teambuilding attributes
  • Computer literacy, including competency related to MS-Windows-based applications
  • Has worked with a CRM database
Recommended Experience:
  • A minimum of two years (2) direct selling experience required
  • Office product industry experience helpful, distribution selling environment an asset
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated positive leadership style
  • Creative selling, project management skills and strategic planning ability required
  • Experience selling in B2B environment preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree
