Role: Director, People Operations (NOC 0112)

Salary:  $125,000 – $275,000/year and Benefits (Extended Health, Dental, Vision, Disability, Life Insurance) + may be eligible for bonuses and salary increases, if applicable

Position: 45 hours/week, Full-time, Permanent

Location of work: Aritzia Support Office (#118-611 Alexander St. Vancouver, BC, V6A 1E1)

As the Director, People Operations, you are part of shaping and executing the People Strategy for both Retail and Corporate divisions of our business. You are the brains creating, maintaining and constantly improving infrastructure and programs that support the entire employee lifecycle.   The Director, People Operations will report directly to the Vice-President, Organizational Development and collaborate with the Executive Vice-President, Retail, the Executive Vice-President, People, the Director, Workforce Planning and Senior Retail Leadership.

Key responsibilities of the Director, People Operations will include the following:

  • Acting as an internal consultant to the business to maximize and optimize People value
  • Building strategic partnerships and working closely with business leaders to assess where there are opportunities to improve People Operations and executing optimizations in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness of said operations
  • Leading departmental transformations and the associated change management, including training, coaching and communicating, required to strategically shift the direction of a business area
  • Using analytical abilities and HR knowledge to develop solutions and design tools that support Aritzia’s People Strategy, including building guidelines, processes and systems frameworks
  • Acting as lead or business owner on technology implementations

Additional duties and responsibilities may be added or modified as required throughout the course of your employment.

The Director, People Operations will possess the following qualifications:

  • A university degree in business or a related field; ideally an MBA
  • 8+ years’ experience in a leadership position
  • 8+ years’ experience in human resources and /or retail
  • Knowledge of and experience with HRIS (Workday experience would be an asset)
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking and decision making capabilities
  • Background and experience in benefits
  • Exceptional ability in MS Office Suite – particularly Excel
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with different departmental teams
  • Proven leadership abilities and excellent communication & presentation skills – both written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills with a high level of attention to detail
