Digital Communications Specialist
This is a contract position
Contract Overview
Working collaboratively with the Communications & Marketing team, the Digital Communications Specialist is a tech-savvy online communications and marketing specialist responsible for supporting SelfDesign online communications and marketing activities. The role will require intermediate experience using a number of digital communications and analytics tools, as well as proficiency in digital/visual design.
Contract Description
Prepare and upload content to digital media channels, including SelfDesign’s website/s, newsletters, email campaigns and social media channels
Design and produce branded multimedia assets and campaigns such as brochures, newsletters, digital ads, surveys and other graphic projects
Monitor communications mailbox and provide communications/marketing support to organizational projects, groups or teams as requested
Proofread and edit content to ensure that messages are coherent, re-enforce strategic communications/marketing plans and adhere to brand standards
Monitor SelfDesign website/s content and functionality to ensure it is up-to-date, accurate and properly linked
Provide support in the development of a new website
Develop and manage email management system including creating internal and external stakeholder email lists and organizing, coordinating and distributing email notifications and campaigns
Assist in managing photo, video and brand assets, channels/apps/accounts and guidelines
Create monthly website, email marketing, and social media analytics reports
Adhere to and promote appropriate use of brand, writing styles and coherent approach to document use and files
Participate in online weekly team meetings
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
Post-secondary diploma/degree in communications and/or marketing
3 - 5 years of experience developing and implementing online communications and marketing activities
Demonstrated experience using WordPress, simple HTML, SurveyMonkey, Canva and/or Photoshop and MailChimp
Hands-on experience working with social media tools including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, and analytics tools
Desktop publishing and digital/visual design experience
Understanding of publishing workflows, content management, user interface/design and content navigation
Solid understanding of the latest web and digital technology
Strong knowledge and interest in learning new computer software/programs
High level of proficiency with Google docs/email
Previous office experience working in a fast-paced environment
Well-organized, with strong attention to detail
Ability to manage a large volume of emails/files and numerous projects
Ability to take direction and work independently, while being part of a collaborative online work environment
Ability to write clear and professional communications
Ability to build and maintain relationships with team members across the organization
Availability at regular times during Pacific time zone working hours
Ability to work independently to meet deadlines and deliverables of the contract
Fluency in written and spoken English
This is a contract position and as an independent contractor, the successful candidate will be required to provide their own hardware, software, and reliable network connectivity to be fully compatible with SelfDesign requirements. Access to a private workspace and a working environment that ensures security, confidentiality and accessibility is required.
Contract Period
January 2018 to July 31, 2018 with potential for renewal.
Contract Amount
Based on education and experience.
