Job Purpose:

As key members of a busy Communications team, the Digital & Visual Communications team members play a critical role in developing and executing Matrix’s communication activities. A designer with marketing coordination experience, you will advise and counsel internal and external clients to determine their needs. Your strategic thinking, independent problem-solving abilities and strong consulting skills will all be essential as you develop creative visual communications solutions that accurately and consistently portray the company. You will be challenged to use your design skills to persuade, communicate specific messages, and inspire audiences using imagery and words.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director, Communications, this role will be responsible for the following:

  • Consult with internal and external clients to understand communications goals and recommend solutions to achieve these goals.
  • Produce communication materials such as technical posters, maps and graphs, motion graphics, print and electronic publications, presentations, training materials, displays and promotional materials.
  • Actively manage the company intranet and external websites.
  • Promote Matrix through various social media platforms.
  • Edit videos and photos.
  • Work with external vendors on production and delivery of communication materials when required.
  • Evolve and ensure adherence to Matrix’s corporate branding standards and visual identity guidelines.
  • Help manage all digital assets including logos, photo library, videos, animations, etc.
  • Support other company initiatives and events as needed.

Education, Experience and Attributes:

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in a consulting type of environment.
  • Highly creative, the successful candidate will demonstrate a strong conceptual process and a flair with images and type, backed by strong technical skills in a variety of mediums <x{(} style="padding: 0px; margin: 0px;" data-mce-style="padding: 0px; margin: 0px;">(primarily web, print, video and photography).
  • Client focused with strong interpersonal and relationship management skills used to develop and maintain positive relationships with a wide variety of internal stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of best practices and current and evolving trends in graphic design, print, video, web, social media and marketing communications.
  • Ability to research, understand and translate technical information into compelling and understandable visual communications.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple demands and projects simultaneously.
  • Proven communication, presentation, project management and coordination skills.
  • Experience working with external designers, printers and other vendors.
  • Advanced software skills in Adobe Creative Suite 5: Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, MS Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Basic knowledge of HTML, Sharepoint and content management software.
  • Videography/photography and production experience would be considered an asset.
  • The ability to write for various mediums: advertising copy, web content, social media, internal publications, business communications, would be considered an asset.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as required.
