Pssst! Can we have a word? How about a sentence, an elegantly placed ellipsis, an alliterative adornment, a burst of brilliant ad copy that—don’t laugh—makes banking surprising and interesting?
We’re looking for a storyteller, someone who speaks our language and—more importantly—writes it. Someone who can help us put in writing how we’re on the path to transform banking to make Albertans, well…happy. Someone who’s eager to collaborate with an art director and our other brilliant teammates, and work in harmony with the art on the page and the designer who created it, and never settle. So if blasting the banal from the banking industry to change people’s lives for the better sounds like your kind of challenge, it’s time to consider joining the most creative and exciting internal agency in Alberta (or Canada?!).
Experienced Copywriter / Storyteller
Your experience is broad, and you’re as comfortable whipping up a quick, perfect headline as you are crafting technical pieces, video vignettes or radio scripts. Your ear is the opposite of tin (er, platinum?), and you have an intuitive sense for voice and tone.
As for us, we’re the biggest Alberta financial institution, and we have more than 5,000 employees, yet we’re literally the kind of place where you can talk about voice and tone with the CEO. (You’ll like him.) Our entire mandate is about transforming our industry, and we’re a company that is focussed on telling stories. We’re on every Best Employer in Canada list that counts, because we’ve taken the notion of putting our employees first, elevated it out of the realm of corporate cliché, and made it real.
So if you have a stellar reputation that’s manifest in your body of work, you’re intrigued and inspired by Alberta, and you checked this ad for spelling mistakes, we need to talk.
You’ll be accountable for the big ideas, words and tone/voice behind creative concepts (no small feat). This role will work intimately with the creative director, associate creative director, senior art director, videographers, animators, media gurus, graphic designers and our team of brilliant, quirky and skillful writers to bring the ATB Financial brand to life.
You’ll create and deliver high quality, brand-driven writing within creative campaigns for external (and occasionally internal) audiences. These materials will include everything from broadcast scripts and newspaper ads to social posts and editorials (and everything in between).
Success in your role means collaborating with key internal stakeholders (account managers and clients) to ensure ATB visuals and words work in creative harmony and that written information is consistent for both external and internal audiences.
You will find success based on your abilities in the following areas:
- Minimum 3 years of creative writing experience. 5 is preferred.
- Agency experience an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills and enjoys working as part of a team.
- The ability to think creatively to generate fresh, exciting, new ideas.
- High standard of writing and proofreading skills.
As the ideal candidate you posses:
- A recognized degree/diploma in a related discipline.
- Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English or Marketing is an asset.
- A love of CP Style and the Caps and Spelling Handbook is a godsend.
So what can ATB Financial offer you? Imagine paying less for your everyday banking, mortgages, loans and investments. Throw in an excellent benefits and pension package, opportunities for career advancement, and a financial institution that’s leading the way in change – now you’re talking about a career with a company that allows you to grow. As an award-winning employer-of-choice – we have the best of the best working for Albertans. Sound like a team you want to be a part of?
Advancement. Fun. Rewards… We get it.
Online applications are preferred. ATB Financial is an equal opportunity employer. We thank all applicants for their interest; however, due to the high number of resumes we receive, only short-listed candidates will be contacted.
