The Community Development and Events Specialist will cultivate partnerships and alliances that will promote growth, consumer awareness, perception, understanding and visitation of the Microsoft Stores. This CDS must be able to construct a robust schedule of events (e.g., speaker series, class trips) both during and after store hours, so that Microsoft Retail brings the technology experience and excitement of our products directly to the consumer. In partnership with Store leadership and Microsoft Retail Stores marketing, this role will build and sustain a viable community presence and events for local affiliations.

Key Responsibilities

Collaboration & Leadership

Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy for the store that will continue to brand Microsoft devices and services.

Build relationships with local community groups such as schools, the Chamber of Commerce, local chapters of charitable organizations and small businesses.

Create excitement for Microsoft devices through an online presence by spearheading and contributing to social media opportunities across various platforms and social communities.

Partner with the corporate Marketing Team to develop assets that support local community engagement initiatives.

Ability to network and make strong connections in the community.


Organize, prioritize, plan, execute, and fulfill all community engagement events.

Coordinate public relations and promotion for events, programs and activities.

Connect activity and event results to key metrics in the store locations to determine ROI and overall effectiveness of community outreach initiatives.

Engage, educate, excite and empower potential and existing customers alike with the same level of passion and commitment.

Additional Skills and Abilities Required

Have a love for Microsoft, be a brand evangelist, and have a deep understanding of Microsoft products (Windows, Office, Xbox, Windows Phone, Surface, and services).

Lead by example, take pride in your work, and enjoy helping and developing others while creating fun environments and energizing people through your passion.

Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a high-level attention to detail.

Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, public-facing environment, driven to get results by directing a team.

Basic Qualifications

2 + years’ experience in Community relations or Community Development or Community Outreach or Hospitality or event planning or Non Profit or marketing

Preferred Qualifications

College Degree Preferred

Established Community relations within the general area of store location i.e. local chambers is ideal
