The Communication Officer holds major responsibility for Communication services, primarily for external stakeholders while also supporting internal communication initiatives.
This position is primary editor and writer for major external publications, communication planning projects and initiatives. Works closely with the Fund Development unit as main communication resource for fundraising intiatives, stewardship activities as well as with the Web Development unit. Will also contribute from to recruitment and marketing initiatives as required.
Develops plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates activities in support of areas of major responsibility. Recommends and implements policy and procedure review and analysis and works with the Director of Communications to implement updates, new initiatives, guidelines and procedures as part of ongoing review of institutional communication programs and initiatives in support of AU’s Strategic Plan.

A four year undergraduate degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, communications or related field and three years related experience, OR a two year post secondary diploma in a related field and five years related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
