The Role

This position is responsible for representing MCAP to the Mortgage Brokerage community in British Columbia Lower Mainland and surrounding areas. Primary responsibility is to retain and grow existing business with current RMG registered brokers/agents and develop and acquire net new business with brokers/agents not currently registered with RMG in British Columbia Lower Mainland and surrounding areas. The Business Development Manager will be accountable for annual achievement of specific targets set at the beginning of each fiscal year.  The primary focus is on funded volume specific to net new origination and refinance with additional secondary targets based on other business unit priorities as set by the VP, Sales (i.e. high ratio vs. conventional split).

This role will work primarily out of a remote home office with travel required to brokers’ offices. The Business Development Manager must possess a valid driver’s license at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Market RMG’s range of financial products to result in new sales
  • Develop existing business and prospect for new business in assigned territory.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of company’s services and offerings
  • Participate in developing new sales strategies to increase market share within assigned territory for RMG
  • Keep up-to-date with latest industry knowledge and trends
  • Develop and maintain a strong presence and level of business development with Mortgage Brokers and their referrals
  • Analyze business opportunities and create plans to maintain continuity, growth and attainment of sales objectives by identifying, developing and maintaining relationships with Mortgage Brokers
  • Ensure that all agents are licensed within their appropriate provincial jurisdiction on an annual basis
  • Evaluate and recommending mortgage applications by assessing customer’s credit history, collateral and income or ability to pay within established guidelines or modifying the application parameters accordingly

What You Bring To The Team

  • Post-secondary College diploma or University degree in business, commerce or economics or equivalent work experience
  • 3–5 years’ experience in mortgage sales
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong understanding of residential mortgages products
  • A polished, sophisticated, corporate manner
  • Effective listening skills and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
