The incumbent will be responsible for the visual quality of the projects and ensure that all the elements that are created are in line with the game vision.

The main and routine tasks of the artistic director – Helix are to:

  • Ensure the visual quality of the projects in keeping with the game’s graphic style and the creative direction (reference films, competitors’ games and design documents);
  • Communicate expectations with regards to the artistic vision to the team in terms of quality and content using solid visual references and documents describing the artistic direction (atmospheres, decors, characters, etc.);
  • Direct and validate the work carried out by the team of artists so that the elements that are produced are in line with the project vision and ensure that quality objectives are met;
  • Help plan the work in collaboration with the planning manager based on the scope of each task and the impact of the work unit to determine a compromise between expected quality and delivery capacity (time, cost, resources, etc.);
  • Work in close collaboration with the technical team to ensure a constant evolution towards best practices (pipeline creation/optimization, tools, etc.);
  • Manage, evaluate and support the Helix artistic teams to constantly enhance the quality and productivity of team members;
  • Work in close collaboration with other studio directors and contribute to the strategic decisions that are made for the studio;
  • Carry out all other related tasks.


  • College diploma in a field related to 3D production or any other relevant training
  • Bachelor of arts an asset


  • 7 years’ experience in artistic direction or any other relevant experience
  • 2 years’ experience in team management
  • Experience in video production an asset


  • Solid artistic culture
  • Ability to fully understand the 3D pipeline, its constraints and the aspects to improve
  • Ability to fully understand and communicate an artistic direction
  • Excellent artistic judgment
  • Ability to review the work done by others and suggest improvements whenever necessary
  • Ability to present ideas and give constructive feedback
  • Managerial skills
  • Ability to work effectively with members of the artistic team and members of other project teams
  • Excellent knowledge of 2D and 3D software
