Reporting to the Managing Director, Digital Revenue Products, the successful candidate will support the day-to-day needs and ongoing development of Toronto Star Audience Solutions Email & Contesting advertising sales & operations.  As the email & contesting resource for the sales teams, the successful candidate will develop sales strategies to ensure that all advertising and RFPs inquiries are reviewed and responded to in a timely manner that delivers on our business goals while meeting client objectives. In collaboration with these internal and external sales teams, the successful candidate will endeavour to deliver incremental email & contesting advertising revenue in order to meet/exceed monthly, quarterly and annual revenue goals as well as supporting the program with all product and operations initiatives.


  • Product management and sales subject matter expert for Email and Contest Marketing
  • Manage budgets, product marketing, sales collateral, list growth, client/subscriber feedback and day-to-day program operations
  • Identify sales opportunities & encourage the inclusion of email marketing in all digital sales proposals
  • Be a resource for sales reps, assisting with planning and developing sales strategies, creative and targeting best practices, report analysis and performance standards
  • Have working knowledge and solid understanding of the digital advertising industry (specifically email marketing and contesting) best practices
  • Have working knowledge of Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation
  • Assist sales reps by providing information for sales proposals to take to clients and to include in larger, multi-platform campaigns
  • Attend sales meeting to assist with proposal presentations & campaign expectations
  • Maintain budget & revenue reports on a daily basis, ensuring targets are met
  • Coordinate with sales reps, internal promotions team, clients and production teams to ensure that avails are checked, inventory is reserved, creative & prizing assets are secured, submitted and approved in a timely manner
  • Providing necessary insight on reporting to external customers (e.g., campaign performance reports) and internal groups (e.g., resolution of any billing discrepancies)
  • Providing inventory availability, forecasting estimates, creative & subject line suggestions and submitting data-based list requests
  • Monitor run rates to ensure full delivery against contracted performance
  • Monitor and take action on Wonderlist feedback emails & phone calls

Qualifications Required:

  • University/College Degree in Business, Sales or Marketing
  • 4+ years of prior digital marketing or sales experience with a strong understanding of the industry
  • Experience with and knowledge of digital sales and digital advertising best practices
  • Experience creating innovative, digital sales packages to articulate opportunities with internal and external stakeholders
  • Familiar with online advertising, marketing and sales concepts and metrics
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop professional relationships with sales reps, advertisers and various internal stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of Excel & PowerPoint – essential
  • Working knowledge of a top tier email delivery solution, HTML & Photoshop/illustrator – considered an asset, but not required
  • Ability to take initiative and prioritize multiple objectives
  • Strong attention to detail required
