Association Information

Located in downtown Vancouver, the Consulting Engineers of BC (CEBC) represents the business and professional interests of over 90 consulting engineering firms that employ 7,800 people in British Columbia. Together we contributed $2.9 billion to the provincial economy in 2009.

CEBC is the recognized voice of the consulting engineering sector by both public and private sector organizations. CEBC advocates for a business and regulatory climate that allows its members to provide the highest level of services and best possible value to its clients.

CEBC was incorporated as a Society in 1976. It has since established active liaison groups in the Okanagan, Vancouver Island and Northern BC. At a Special General Meeting in June 2011, the membership voted to change the name of the association to the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies – British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities - Marketing Coordinator

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Marketing Coordinator plays an intermediate role in the organization and is responsible for marketing initiatives to promote the work of the association to its members and potential members. This role will also assist in marketing the new name to members and the public. This is a permanent part-time contract position.

The Marketing Coordinator will work closely with the Events and Accounting Coordinator to ensure adequate attention is given to continuously improve event planning and delivery.

Additional areas of responsibility include comprehensive speaker relations, working with volunteers to determine the best speakers for events; actively engaging speakers and providing them the pertinent information required to make the event successful. The Marketing Coordinator will also coordinate the Awards Road Show - a travelling exhibit and perform other administrative duties as required.

A strong team player, excellent organizational skills, communication skills, a cheerful attitude and the ability to multi-task are imperative. Leadership abilities and experience will allow the Marketing Coordinator to work in cooperation with committees and other internal team members.

Marketing

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to meet association objectives

  • Assist in development of the CEBC brand strategy, creative programs and design concepts

  • Assist in creating marketing materials for online and print media

  • Assist in writing topical articles on industry-related subjects to publish on websites and blogs

  • Update the website as required to promote association initiatives

  • Produce presentations using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint as necessary.

Skill Set

  • University degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field

  • 5-7 years experience in marketing and events planning

  • Extensive knowledge of Internet marketing trends, web environments, social networks, online media and multimedia formats

  • A command of the English language, impeccable grammar

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills; demonstrated presentation skills

  • Experience in professional writing in traditional and online media

  • Highly organized; ability to multi-task while maintaining accuracy and efficiency

  • Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment; ability to share and accept advice professionally

  • Proven experience using MS Office - Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Availability to work occasional evening and weekend hours when required

Considered An Asset

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use various design programs for web and print using

  • Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, InDesign, Flash, HTML

  • Experience with iMis and web content management tools

  • Previous experience in an association environment

  • Ability to utilize contact management databases

  • Excellent editing and proofreading skills

  • An understanding of branding principles
